LiUP for Liebherr mobile harbour cranes

19 June 2019

Switzerland-headquartered crane manufacturer Liebherr has adapted its LiUP tower crane operator lift system for use on its mobile harbour cranes. The in-house developed LiUP can transport up to two people or a payload of 200 kg.

The LiUP crane operator lift has an electric motor powered by a lithium-ion battery

The lift is powered by an electric motor with a lithium-ion battery. No ropes or cables are required. An energy recovery system means that when the lift is lowered, up to 40 percent of the lifting energy can be recovered.

To enhance safety the lift’s stopping positions are monitored by three limit switches. In addition, a clamp brake reacts when the elevator starts moving too fast while inductive sensors check that a guide rail is in place.
