Headquartered north of Lisbon in the city of Coimbra, Ascendum provides equipment rental, sales and maintenance services to customers in a range of sectors, including demolition, materials processing and quarrying.

The company currently operates a single branch in the north west of Angola and four branches in Portugal, located in Porto, Lisboa- Sacavém, Leiria and Faro. It is expected to announce a new dealership in Angola later this year.

Metso Outotec said Ascendum’s local resources would provide good opportunities for it to develop its mobile and portable equipment business in the region’s construction sector.

Olli-Pekka Oksanen, senior vice president, global distribution management at Metso Outotec, said, “Our aim is to be the preferred choice for aggregate crushing and screening solutions.

“With Ascendum, we expect to be close to the customers and agile in serving their needs. Our premium brand coupled with their local presence and aftermarket expertise is a strong package.”

The distribution deal will see Ascendum offer Metso Outotec’s Lokotrack and Nordtrack track-mounted crusher and screen brands.

It also includes the manufacturer’s stationary models, its NW Series of portable crushing and screening units.

According to Metso Outotec, Ascendum will also provide customers with service, commissioning, and technical support, alongside crusher wear parts and spare parts.

José Luis Mendes, CEO of Ascendum Máquinas, said, “Ascendum is proud to be the exclusive distributor for Metso Outotec, which is a worldwide recognized brand.

“We welcome Metso Outotec to our portfolio of leading brands and are very happy to be able to widen our offering to our existing clientele. Most of the Metso Outotec customers are common to Ascendum, and our wide coverage is a great benefit for them.”
