US rental company Lowe’s Tool Rental has implemented SmartEquip’s Procurement platform to automate Lowes stores’ equipment service and repair processes.

“SmartEquip provides immediate benefits to Lowe’s existing rental fleet and enables their expansion into larger, more complex equipment,” said Fernando Pinera, CEO, SmartEquip.

The platform comprises software for equipment lifecycle management, service and procurement support for the construction industry. It provides a multi-brand common connection and user experience for fleet owners and distributors of complex equipment.

It is designed to enable equipment owners in the construction industry to streamline parts ordering and purchasing; it is said to increase technician productivity, eliminating spare part order errors, and improving tool and equipment fleet uptime and availability.

Lowe’s is using Smartequip’s Procurement platform.

Repair technicians can order directly with manufacturers and preferred dealers of more than 50 brands of equipment and can also update purchase orders and work orders on the platform.

The platform also offers suppliers reductions in the cost of supporting equipment fleets on the SmartEquip Network, and improved efficiency in supplying spare parts.

The SmartEquip Network currently supports 600 OEM brands, with 95,000 users across more than 42,000 equipment locations globally. It supports about US$1 bn in parts transactions annually.
