Hovago and Liebherr mark an order for ten units of the new LR 1500 crawler crane at the 2016 Bauma exhibition in Germany

Hovago celebrated a major order for ten units of Liebherr’s new 500 tonne capacity lattice boom crawler at the Bauma construction equipment exhibition in Munich, Germany, on 12 April.

Doron Livnat, Hovago president and founder, said, “We will make the new LR 1500 available from stock on three continents for immediate delivery. There is more and more need for our business solution.” Netherlands-based Hovago celebrates 70 years in business this year and with three generations of family ownership, as does Liebherr.

The new Liebherr LR 1500 was first shown at the manufacturer’s Customer Days event in June 2015. It keeps the same footprint as a smaller crane but you get more out of it, Livnat said, and its design means money can be saved on transport, he continued.

The crane sits in a crossover position in terms of application, for example, at the top of the steel erector range and, in full configuration, at the lower end of the wind energy industry. It is also good for petrochemical and shipyard applications.

Deliveries will begin at the end of 2016 and run into 2017.
