AFI acquires Rapid Platforms

12 October 2016

Rapid Platforms, described as the UK’s oldest privately owned access company, has been acquired by AFI.

It will operate as an independent business within the AFI group of companies.

Rapid will retain its name and branding, while its existing management team will continue to drive the business forward, supported by the resources of AFI.

Established 34 years ago, Rapid Platforms operates from a base in Bishop’s Stortford, offering machine hire and sales, servicing of customers’ own machines, and IPAF accredited training. It has an annual turnover approaching £4 million, and a fleet of over 150 MEWPs, hoists, truck and track mounts.

David McNicholas, AFI chief operating officer, said, “This acquisition further highlights the strength of the AFI business to capitalise on opportunities as they arise. Rapid Platforms has an excellent reputation for the quality of its fleet and customer service. The acquisition strengthens our presence further in the South East and London.”
