Japan's Aichi Corporation held a groundbreaking ceremony on November 26 for a new Chinese manufacturing facility in Hangzhou, China, which is scheduled to be complete by June 2009.

The 50000 m2 facility, to be operated by a 100% Aichi owned company called Zhejiang Aichi Industrial Machinery Co Ltd, and led by Mr Seiji Fujishima, president, will assemble self-propelled aerial platforms and represents an investment ofUS$45 million by Aichi Corp.

The new facility will be Aichi's second in China. The company has already been manufacturing vehicle mounted aerials for several years at its Hangzhou Aichi Engineering Vehicles Co Ltd plant.
