Altec will notify owners of the recall, and dealers will install a retrofit kit

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in the USA has released a recall request from Altec Industries on models of its Altec Crane telescopic jib models manufactured between 2005 and 2013.

The NHTSA reports that on 2005-2013 models of Altec Crane telescopic jibs there may be unimpeded movement of the telescopic jib if the limiting pin is not inserted in the correct position. The unimpeded movement of the jib may increase the risk of injury to the operator or those nearby.

In total, around 724 units are believed to be affected.

Altec will notify owners and dealers will install a retrofit kit that will aid the operator in the proper placement of the pin, free of charge. The recall was due to begin 3 March 2015. Owners may contact Altec customer service at Tel: +1 877 462 5832. Altec's reference number for this recall is CSN 610.
