Averda technical director Mazen El Refai completes recycling webinar panel

The panel for Demolition & Recycling International’s webinar on “Construction and Demolition Waste: Recycling in the 2020s” is now complete.

Mazen El Refai has been with Averda since 1997

The third member is Mazen El Refai, technical director of multinational waste management specialist Averda. He will join Jacqueline O’Donovan – managing director of British company O’Donovan Waste Disposal – and the US Construction and Demolition Recycling Association executive director Bill Turley for the discussion, which takes place on Tuesday September 8 at 3pm (UK time).

Subjects under discussion will include

  • Market prospects as companies look to maximise demolition project values especially post Covid-19
  • Possible changes in legislation that will push demolition companies towards cleaner/greener projects
  • Emerging markets for construction and demolition waste recycling
  • Developments at manufacturer level to widen the use of crushing/screening equipment for recycling applications.

As technical director for Averda, Mazen El Refai is responsible for managing the technical team, mobilising resources across the company and assisting in the development of projects, technologies and solutions across Averda from tendering, forming proposals, mergers and acquisitions up to the procurement and rollout of services and equipment.

Mazen joined Averda in 1997 as an operations manager and since then has had roles from operation management of different waste treatment plants and processes to projects management and Technologies development.

He has significant international experience in places such as United Arab Emirates, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Oman, Morocco, Jordan, South Africa, Qatar, Lebanon and Angola, and completed an MBA in 2008.
