Bangladesh port orders Terex Noell straddle carriers

29 March 2010

Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) in Bangladesh has ordered six diesel-electric straddle carriers from Italy-based Terex Noell.

The 1 over 3-high straddle carriers will replace outdated machines from different manufacturers as part of a major modernisation project at the port in the light of increasing container traffic.

This is the CPA's first order for straddle carriers with Terex. "[As well as] providing the latest technology currently available for this particular market segment, these machines also provide a strong economic advantage when it comes to fuel, maintenance, spare parts and final ownership costs," said a CPA spokesman.

CPA already operates six rubber tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, supplied by Noell Crane Systems GmbH, five years ago.

Terex Corporation acquired Noell Mobile Systems GmbH in 2009.
