Barge transport for major Asian fuel project

Total Movements was involved in a challenging transport which included moving 700 freight-tonnes of equipment in loads more than 7 metres high.

The cargo was more than 7 metres high

The cargo was transported from the supplier’s plant to a load port on the West coast of India.

A spokesperson for Total Movements said, “Shifting of these oversized pieces within the plant, road transportation from the supplier’s plant to the nearest jetty, barging to the nearest major seaport, and feeding alongside the vessel were all part of our scope.

“The cargo’s COG (centre of gravity) was higher than usual, which posed a significant challenge.

“The nominated loading jetty was a tidal jetty, which necessitated special pilotage and mooring arrangements.

“Our engineering and operational team made site visits, had detailed discussions with multiple stakeholders, technical simulations, to execute this movement.”
