Italian manufacturer, Barin has delivered its first machine to Canada. The ABC 190/L under-bridge inspection unit has been bought by Canadian rental company Jenik Inc Construction and Location, based in St-Mathieu De Boloeil.

The ABC 190/L has bridge barrier clearance of 4.4 m, a horizontal outreach under the bridge of 19 m and a maximum vertical depth under the bridge of 9 m. The platform is 1.3 m wide and can carry a maximum load of 600 kg. When the under-bridge platform is deployed the unit can move at a maximum speed of 12 m/minute.

Additional flexibility is supplied by a manually operated vertical lift on the platform which can raise one operator 2.5 m above the main platform for access inside girders for the inspection of bridge slabs.

The inspection unit is mounted on a five-axle Freightliner 2007 M2-112 truck chassis which Jenik delivered to Italy for assembling. The machine will not occupy more than one traffic lane while at work to avoid creating too much congestion.
