Genie is introducing a hybrid Z-boom lift at Bauma.
The new Genie Z-60/37 FE boom lift provides two modes of operation: Full-electric, which can work for a full day on a single charge and a Hybrid mode, which provides more than a week of run time on a tank of diesel.
In Hybrid mode the machine uses its 24-hp Tier 4 Final /Stage IIIB engine-powered generator to maintain the battery state of charge or to supplement the battery power to get a boost in machine performance. Its engine-powered generator constantly monitors the battery state, keeping them topped up for maximum run time, then automatically shutting off to minimise fuel consumption.
For extreme conditions or after heavy full-electric operation, the hybrid power system can provide a bulk charge within four hours. The hybrid system can also provide power directly to the 4-wheel AC drive motors, allowing the system to combine the power of the diesel driven generator and the 48V DC battery pack.
Adam Hailey, product manager, Terex AWP, “Our new Z-60/37 FE boom also offers the advantage of being sufficiently lightweight and compact to handle tasks in confined spaces. It is equipped as standard with foamed-filled, all terrain tyres or optional foam-filled, non-marking all terrain tyres, which add to the machine’s outdoor and indoor versatility.”
The 4-wheel drive machine offers 45% gradeability, ground clearance of 33cm and is capable of travelling 25% faster than typical diesel-powered units. Full-time active oscillating axles and fully sealed AC motors, that support drive performance while submerged under 91 cm of water, are also features.
Providing a 20.16m of working height, 11.15m of horizontal outreach, a machine weight of 7.756kg and 8.15m stowed length, the machine is easy to transport on a standard truck, said the manufacturer.
