Manitou will launch into the US its 16 t capacity, 10 m lift height MHT 10160 telescopic handler at Conexpo in Las Vegas this March. The French company said the machine, manufactured in Italy, is the largest rough-terrain telehandler on the market.

Capacity at its maximum forward reach of 5,5 m is 4,2 t.

A 131 kW Tier III Mercedes turbo diesel powers the machine through a two-speed hydrostatic transmission. It features a load sensing hydraulic system, frame levelling, three steering modes, and a fully-enclosed cab with heater and defroster.

According to Ryan Ford, Manitou's product specialist, the company has been evaluating the release of the machine in the US for almost two years. “We've had many requests for more capacity... We feel that by offering units with these capacity ratings we are opening the telehandler market to customers who traditionally have had to look elsewhere (such as cranes) for material handling solutions...”
