Bobcat's new compact

10 June 2014

Bobcat has replaced its S130 skid steer loader with the next generation S450, which it says combines the advantages of a compact machine with many of the features to be found on the company’s larger next generation units.

The S450 has an operating weight of 2,240 kg (4,928 lb) with a rated capacity of 608 kg (1,337.6 lb), a dump height of 2.8 m (9.2 ft, and a length of 3.2 m (10.5 ft) when fitted with a standard bucket. The machine is powered by a diesel delivering 36.4 kW (48.8 hp) and it can carry all of Bobcat’s 48 different attachment product families (with more to come, says the company).

The S450 has been designed to give operators greater levels of comfort and control. The new more spacious cab provides an 10% greater internal area and all round visibility has by improved by 30% . Also, the cab’s threshold has been lowered and the door opening size increased to allow easier egress and ingress.
