UK-based Carillion said its 10% year-on-year increase in revenues for the first half of 2016 was in line with its expectations, led by a strong growth in support services.

The company recorded revenues of £2.48 billion (€2.93 billion) for the first six month of the year, compared with the £2.25 billion (€2.65 billion) recorded the same period a year ago.

The company’s underlying profit was £112.7 million (€132.95 million) – representing a marginal increase of 0.1% compared to the same period a year ago.

Philip Green, chairman of Carillion, said, “I am pleased to report that the group’s first-half results are in line with our expectations, led by a strong performance in our support services business, which accounted for nearly two thirds of the Group’s underlying operating profit.

“New order intake in the first half of the year has been strong and continues to reflect the success of our strategy and strength of our business model.

He added that, overall, Carillion remained on track to make further progress in 2016.
