Cat move for Mammoet
30 November 2015
Heavy lift and specialized transport company Mammoet transported a fully assembled Cat 797 truck from Fort McKay in Northern Alberta to a mining customer site in the Wood Buffalo Region of Alberta, Canada.
The Caterpillar 797 weighs 590 tonnes (gross operating weight is 687 tonnes and the maximum load weight is 306 tonnes) and was transported for Caterpillar heavy and general equipment dealer Finning. Unlike previous transport projects, the 797 was transported fuly assembled to save cost and time.
Kellie Brannan, Finning project manager, said, “We were able to remove concerns around safety, cost, downtime and the inconvenience of dismantling a truck for transport.”
Mammoet will carry out other transport projects for Finning before the end of the year.
