Caterpillar has manufactured its 100000th mini hydraulic excavator, and has marked the milestone by producing an exclusive silver-painted machine. The mini excavator in question was handed over to its owner, German contractor Matthäi, last week.

Richard Cooper, Managing Director of Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products in Europe said, “The mini hydraulic excavator business is very important to Caterpillar. We have been building the machines for more than ten years now and continually developed them to meet the customers’ needs of reliability, durability and ease of maintenance. We are delighted to have reached such a milestone and that Matthäi is helping to celebrate the event.”

Matthäi, founded in 1933 and headquartered in Verden, Lower Saxony, employs 1500 people and its main activities include road construction, track construction and paving. The company will use the 100000th mini hydraulic excavator as a demonstration machine covering all its branches in Germany.
