27 November 2013

Canadian shipyard Chantier Davie has ordered three MacGregor subsea cranes for a new offshore accommodation and construction vessel.

The vessel will provide accommodation for up to 400 passengers. It will include an active heave compensated gangway and subsea and topside construction equipment. MacGregor said it will be one of the first work and live vessels capable of performing offshore tasks.

The cranes ordered for the vessel include a 250 tonne SWL active heave compensated (AHC) subsea crane, a 20 tonne SWL offshore crane and a 5 tonne SWL shipboard crane.

Frode Grøvan, director, sales and marketing for advanced load handling, said, "Together they will deliver an advanced, flexible package that will give the operator enhanced capabilities in the offshore construction market.”

The vessel is scheduled for delivery by the end of spring 2015.
