Comansa helps lift Bucharest

Romanian construction company B&A purchased five Linden Comansa tower cranes to help build the country’s first hypermarket-anchored shopping mall near Bucharest.

The five 18 tonne capacity Comansa 21LC210 flat top cranes were mounted on cross rail bases and erected to heights ranging from 30 to 60 m. The work was carried out by the Spanish tower crane manufacturer’s Romanian dealer Terra.

Built on four levels, the Sun Plaza retail and entertainment centre will cover more than

76,000 m2 when it is finished in the fourth quarter of 2008. It is being developed by EMCT Romania under the design of Spanish architect Chapman Taylor.

According to Linden Comansa the project is “another example of the great construction boom that Romania and, especially, Bucharest is experiencing at the moment.”

Linden Comansa said it sold more than 30 cranes in Romania in 2007, rated between 50 and 200 tonne-metres.
