Construction and built environment ride ‘Ziggurat’ to return

In September 2024, the construction and built environment sector will gather for the seventh annual ‘Ziggurat’ bike ride in Tuscany to raise funds and awareness for children’s charity, Action Medical Research.

The cyclists represent a number of companies, including additional teams from Willmott Dixon, and Baxall Construction, among many others. The four-day cycling networking tour will see around 60 riders cycle over 235 miles, climbing 17,000 feet from Pisa to Lucca.

Action Medical Research is a UK-wide children’s charity which funds research to tackle the diseases that devastate the lives of children. It has been funding medical breakthroughs since it began in 1952 including helping to introduce the first polio vaccines in the UK, developing the use of ultrasound in pregnancy and testing the rubella vaccine.

The charity is currently funding research into areas including premature birth, epilepsy, scarlet fever, cerebral palsy, brain cancer and some rare and distressing conditions.
