UK contractor Costain has revealed a record high order book of £3.2 billion (€4 billion) in a pre-close trading update ahead of its interim results for the six months ended 30 June, 2014.

More than 90% of the firm’s order book comprises repeat orders. Meanwhile, Costain continues to maintain a strong preferred bidder position on £400 million (€500 million), while it said that £950 million (€1.18 billion) of revenue had been secured for 2014.

The first half of 2014 has seen Costain win a number of new contracts and extensions as it continues to implement its Engineering Tomorrow strategy.

Awards announced in the period include appointment to the Network Rail £2 billion (€2.5 billion) National Electrification Programme; the Crossrail North East Spur contract for Network Rail; appointment to three transmission frameworks with National Grid; and a further Barrow Gas Terminals contract with Centrica.

Costain will announce its interim results for the six months ended 30 June, 2014, on 21 August.
