Indian construction company Dilip Buildcon (DBL) is using two Grove GMK5170 all terrain cranes at a road construction project in Gujarat, India.

The first part of the project includes building a 74.5 mile (120 km) road between Nadiad and Modafa; the second half of the project will be the construction of a 73.3 mile road from Ahmedabad to Godhra, a company spokesperson said.

Work for the 170 tonne capacity cranes includes lifting concrete girders that weigh 120 tonnes each. The cranes have a reach of 64 metres, which can be extended to 100 m when configured with the jib.

Devender Jain, DBL director, said, “This is the first time we are using a Manitowoc crane, and we could not be happier with its performance. The crane’s strong capacity and long reach are perfect for our needs.”

Puneet Gujra, DBL general manager, said, “We have been using the Grove GMK5170 crane since 2012 and have been impressed with its performance. This is a rugged, state-of-the-art machine, and we have not faced any technical hitches since operating the crane. As a result of our satisfying experience, we plan to purchase a higher-capacity Manitowoc crane in the future.”

Atul Joshi, general manager of structures at DBL, added, “We are on the verge of completing these two large road construction projects thanks to these high-tech cranes. The two Grove GMK5170s have increased our ability to complete projects with ease and speed. We are able to fit more projects onto our docket thanks to such quality machines.”
