Haulotte’s revenues for the first half of the year were up +17.6% to € 207 million (US$ 269 million). The increase in sales helped it achieve a +35% increase in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), to € 19.3 million (US$ 25 million).

A company statement said, “The global market for powered access platforms has continued the favourable trend observed during 2013, but is now driven by Europe and Asia Pacific.”

The company added that revenues were up +29% in Europe, +26% in North America and +22% in Asia Pacific over the first six months of 2014. However, these gains were undermined by a -31% decline in revenues from Latin America.

The company’s equipment sales in the first half of the year were up + 18.4% to € 177 million (US$ 230 million), while its revenues from services were up +20.9% to € 19.7 million (US$ 24.6 million). Against this backdrop, the expansion of its equipment rental activities was subdued, with just a +1.9% increase in revenues to € 10.8 million (US$ 14 million).

Haulotte added that the rebound in Europe was due to the replacement of aging fleets, rather than an improvement in the economic situation. However, it said it expects its full-year revenues to be up +15% on 2013.
