International architects DRDS in collaboration with South Korea-based architects Kunwon, has won the competition to design the Pangyo Global R+D Center.

Located at the gateway to the Pangyo Techno-Valley Campus in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea it includes 46000m2 of Research and Development (R+D) laboratories, offices, seminar rooms, an auditorium and a library.

It is scheduled for completion in 2011.

The developer, Samsung Corporation, hopes the building's iconic design and 19800 m2 labs will attract global companies specialising in high tech industries such as Biotechnology (BT), Information Technology (IT) and Green Technology (GT).

The three towers will be connected by multiple atria and connecting walkways. The main atrium, which will be known as the Community Forum, is "an arrival space" that links the entire complex, creating a "zone of influence" where researchers, business developers and clients can meet.
