Unic Cranes Europe has announced a battery powered spider crane on wheels for launch at Bauma.

The Eco-095 spider crane, developed with Japanese manufacturer Furukawa Unic, has a 0.995 tonne capacity and has been designed for interior lifting operations in sensitive environments, including food processing plants, listed buildings, museums and galleries, the company said.

With the higher capacity 2.9 tonne Eco-295 model, the Eco-095 is one of the first wheeled mini cranes in production that is free of both fumes and noise. The cranes come with a rechargeable 48 Volt battery that provides power for 2.5 hours, the company added.

The Eco-095 is 750 mm wide and has low marking wheels instead of tracks for better manoeuvrability, the company said.

Graeme Riley, Unic Cranes Europe CEO, said, “Our bright green Eco-095 mini crane will be hard to miss among the rest of our signature red cranes on our stand at Bauma this year. This new machine meets the demand from customers and principal contractors for a more environmentally friendly lifting solution that helps to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising on effectiveness. It provides a perfect alternative for lifting in confined areas where diesel or LPG powered cranes aren’t suitable.”

The spider crane makes its first public appearance outside Japan at Unic Cranes Europe’s stand number F11/1102/5 from 15 to 21 April 2013 at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.
