Heavy lift specialist Felbermayr used its 300 tonne lifting capacity Liebherr LR 1300 crawler crane to disassemble a tunnel boring machine at the Pfaendertunnel tunnel in Bregenz, Austria.

Following the completion of the second tunnel at the site, the boring machine Angelika had to be broken down and lifted onto a low loader trailer. The LR 1300 was configured with a 44 m main boom and derrick boom, as well as a wheeled counterweight carriage.

The maximum unit weight of the disassembled machine was 120 tonne, lifted at a 12 m radius. During the one month long job the LR 1300 lifted a total 1,300 tonnes. After hoisting each load the crane had to turn around and travel in a restricted space to the loading position at the low-loader, with the load on the hook.
