First buyer for Hitachi Sumitomo SCX400T

The first unit of the new Hitachi Sumitomo SCX400T telescopic crawler crane has been sold to Gordon Dunne, managing director of Dunne Group Ltd., in Scotland.

Dunne ordered the 40 tonner from UK distributor NRC at the recent SED exhibition in the UK where the first unit was displayed.

As a product of Hitachi Sumitomo's cooperation agreement with Link-Belt the 32 m maximum (10.06 m minimum), four section boom is sourced from a crane in the latter's rough terrain series. The preliminary lifting charts show the maximum 40 tonnes at 2.5 m radius and 1.2 tonnes at 27 m radius with the boom fully extended.

The specification of the SCX400T also includes; the latest Wylie Total Moment Limiter with data logger, a six cylinder Isuzu B B - 6 H K 1 T Q A diesel, retractable undercarriage, joystick controls, air conditioned cab, and a retractable undercarriage giving a minimum transport width of 3350 mm. Counterweight is four removable pieces totalling 11.5 tonnes.

This latest order follows Dunne's recent purchase of a Hitachi Sumitomo SCX550, 55 tonne lattice crawler crane.
