UK-based Birmingham Crane Hire Company (BCHC) has recently taken delivery of its first ever Liebherr, a new LTM 1060-3.1 mobile crane delivered to the company earlier this month.

The company has chosen the compact 3 axle chassis crane it to handle a very wide range of driving conditions, the company said. It has high load capacities and long boom systems as well as a special ballast plate configuration.

BCHC has ordered the new crane with an optional wireless remote control system and with VarioBase, which is said to be particularly effective for lifting operations in locations where space is restricted.

The 60 tonne capacity 1060-3.1 has “exceptional” manoeuvrability achieved through its 6 wheel steering, and its 5 section main boom gives a maximum operating height of 48 metres, which is further increased with the double fly jib. In the UK, the 1060-3.1 can travel with all 12.8 tonnes of counterweight and a double fly jib and remain within STGO (Special Types General Order) regulations.

Mark Weatherson, sales director at BCHC, commented, “We believe the LTM 1060-3.1 to be the best 60 tonne capacity, 3 axle machine on the market. We‘re impressed with the build quality and attention to detail and also the service received from Liebherr’s sales team. This may be our first Liebherr but it will not be our last!”
