Hire Association Europe and Event Hire Association (HAE EHA) have formally launched the Future Hirers Programme.
At a well-attended event at JCB Headquarters on 14 July, HAE EHA members representing over 1000 rental outlets, heard speakers highlight the benefits of the programme and how they can get involved. JCB hosted the event.
Future Hirers is a new initiative aimed at supporting those aged 18-30 either already working in the hire sector or potential recruits to taking on a hire role.
Through a series of projects, working with CITB and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) the objective is to offer practical support to candidates, current employees and employers to create and develop opportunities in the hire sector. This will include an online jobs board.
DWP and HAE will work together to raise the profile of Future Hirers and DWP has extended the network to 114 work coaches to create a new talent pool for employers.
Speaking after the launch, HAE EHA managing director, Graham Arundell explained that; “This is about attracting, motivating and retaining the hire sector’s greatest asset - its people. Hire chief executives regularly cite recruitment and retention as some of the biggest challenges facing the sector so we’re determined to offer practical backing to our members.”
Rebecca Bryson, UK & Ireland national compact excavator sales manager for JCB added: “We are delighted to be supporting HAE in the launch of Future Hirers and we recognise the continual requirement for young talented individuals to be joining the hire sector.”
