Got a demolition challenge at a water depth of more than 3,000 m (10,000 ft)? if so, Genesis Attachments now have the solution in the shape of its new GSS subsea shear, which has been pressure tested to operate down to these depths for demanding offshore applications.
The GSS is available with jaw openings of 813 mm (32 inch) or 1,168 mm (46 inch) and features anti-corrosion primer and paint for corrosion protection in harsh marine environments such as offshore oil/gas platform decommissioning, pipeline and piling cutting and underwater steel cutting. Multi-position rigging allows the shear to be cable-hung and operated by a subsea power pack or from surface power. It also features a heavy duty pivot design protected by an anti-corrosion coating to provide structural strength and durability as well as sealed greaseable pivot points.
According to Genesis’ director of business development David Palvere: “"To design a shear capable of withstanding deep-depth pressure and corrosive salt water, we started with some of the key features of the industry-leading Genesis XP Mobile Shear and then added offshore application specifics such as Xylan anti-corrosion coated fasteners, zinc anodes and holes along the top and bottom of the shear body for easy water drainage,"
