New EU rules on whole body vibration are impacting on every industry, and the demolition industry is no exception. Explosive demolition projects usually require the drilling of several thousand holes in walls and columns, often using powered hand tools, into which the explosive is inserted. The new regulations mean that contractors are turning to alternative techniques.

UK explosive demolition contractor Coleman & Company has developed this crawler-mounted drilling rig to minimise the need for this manual work. On a recent site, it drilled all 3000 charge holes in a shorter period of time than if they had been manually drilled.
