Hatz managing director Wolfram Hatz (L) and Peter Prinz-Hufnagel, head of the company's technical research and engine testing department, stand in front of the 4H50TIC.

Engine specialist Hatz has unveiled a new, EU Stage IIIB/US Tier 4 Final-compliant model at Bauma 2013 - the 4H50TIC, which has an output of 55kW.

Managing director Wolfram Hatz said the 4H50TIC consumed diesel at a rate of 210g/kWh a figure which he said was around 10% lower than competitor models.

“This fuel consumption figure includes the cooling fan and alternator, and we really believe it represents a strong advantage to customers,” Mr Hatz said.

The 4H50TIC meets the strict limits of the Stage IIIB/US Tier 4 Final exhaust emission laws without a diesel particulate filter (DPF) saving on space, money and servicing, according to Peter Prinz-Hufnagel, head of the company's technical research and engine testing department.

Cooled exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) technology and a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) are used to reduce emissions.

“The EGR and DOC and the injection technology produce a high exhaust quality, and the engine falls significantly below the emission limits without the use of a DPF,” Mr Prinz-Hufnagel said.

Hatz supplies construction equipment OEMs including Wacker Neuson and Ammann.
