UK rental firm Hewden broke ground on its latest hub depot on a 3.35-acre brown field site in Bedford on April 18, 2014.

Construction is set to take just four months, with the new depot scheduled to open in August 2014. Being built at a cost of £1.6 million, the new rental depot will offer general plant, access and cranes.

Hewden CEO, Kevin Parkes, said: "Being situated just off the M1 the new hub is ideally positioned to enhance the existing Hewden network. This great new yard will enable us to say yes to even more customers and fulfil next day delivery across the Home Counties.”

Hewden said the new site will also demonstrate its commitment to the envionmenth, with a number of environmental measures in place including a water recycling wash bay, a sophisticated drainage system to prevent flooding in the surrounding area, and a rainwater harvesting system.
