Cranes lift the old as well as the new. A 650 tonne capacity Demag AC 650 recently removed two architecturally significant pieces from the excavation site for a new building in Venlo, the Netherlands. The items were two unanticipated, but welcomed, at least by city officials, pieces of 13th Century foundation weighing 75 tonnes. The rig that reclaimed these included a 12-axle line Goldhofer type THP/L pulled by a 530 hp Scania tractor.
