IDB funds Turkey railway project

The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has pledged to provide financing of US$ 668 million for major infrastructure works across the Muslim world, including a US$ 229 million loan for a 304 km high speed railway line between Ankara and Konya in Turkey.
IDB will fund a number of other transport projects, including a US$ 15.4 million loan to Sierra Leone for the construction of its Pendembu-Kailahum Road project and US$ 15 million for Niger for its Arlita-Assamaka road project on the border with Algeria.
Tunisia is set to receive US$ 34.6 million for an agricultural development project in Kef and Kasserine, while Bangladesh will receive funding of US$ 8.6 million for agricultural support for small holders in the southwestern region, and Uganda has received approval for a US$ 8 million loan for a community agricultural infrastructure improvement programme.
Further projects receiving funding include US$ 12.7 million for a social housing programme in Bamako, Mali; US$ 10 million for a solar rural electrification project in Aftout Elchargui Zone, Mauritania; US$ 8.4 million to construct and equip the Dalal Jamm hospital, Senegal; US$ 11.12 million in additional financing for the Roseires Dam in Sudan and US$ 228 million for Iran towards its Western Tehran sanitation project.
