dsb Maschinenbau GmbH has supplied two Innocrush 35 tracked impact crushers to Sia Strek, who operates a coal handling facility in the port of Riga in Latvia, from where it provides services including coal crushing, screening and purification. The two machines are running 22 hours a day, 365 days a year, to crush coal shipped transported in open wagons from Siberia prior to its shipment to electricity generating and steel industry customers in Germany, France, Spain and the Netherlands.

The two machines are equipped with slide-on hopper side walls to ensure optimum charging by Sia’s excavator that is equipped with a 9 m3 (318 ft3) bucket as well as more powerful magnets to separate out foreign material such as iron in the material stream. In addition, the electrical systems on the machine were provided with greater protection and both feature the option of a two speed main conveyor to ensure the efficient throughput of the crushed coal.
