Engcon Group’s Q-Safe quick hitch system for excavators was recently awarded a 2014 GaLaBau Innovations Medaille at the GaLaBau exhibition, held in Germany in September.

Engcon went up against 133 other companies, and was one of only 19 awarded, taking the Medaille for its innovative Q-Safe, a hitch that is said to reduce the risk of accidents caused by dropped tools.

"The award is an acknowledgement that Q-Safe, with its unique solutions, is the world's safest quick hitch. This spurs us on to continue our broad investment in the Non Accident Generation," said Stig Engström, Engcon's founder and owner.

Q-Safe is said to provide threefold safety via its hydraulic monitoring, a mechanical locking function and electronic monitoring. With Q-Safe, the operator simply cannot connect a tool incorrectly or release a bucket by mistake, according to the company.

GaLaBau focuses on landscaping and the design, construction and maintenance of sports grounds, golf courses, playgrounds and other public spaces. This year's exhibition attracted 1,300 exhibitors and 67,000 visitors.
