IronPlanet celebrates 14 year anniversary

Online auctioneer IronPlanet has celebrated its 14 year anniversary of providing the industry with online auctions.

The company’s first auction was held on 23 March 2000, with one seller, 22 items up for auction and a total of 32 bidders. In its latest auction there were 406 sellers, 2,996 bidders from 78 countries and 1,795 items sold.

Greg Owens, IronPlanet CEO, said, “We’re excited to celebrate 14 years of growth since our first online auction. We have attracted more than one million registered users around the globe and sold more than $3.5 billion of equipment over the Internet. Our success is based on our customers’ recognition that IronPlanet offers the industry’s most efficient and timely way to buy and sell used heavy equipment.”
