Steelwork contractor J & D Pierce has added a Grove GMK4100L and a GMK3055 all terrain crane to its fleet.

The two new models were put in to service alongside two other GMK4100L and GMK3055 cranes to help carry out work on a £220 million (US$ 328 million) City Campus job site project in Glasgow, Scotland, UK. The college will be the largest one in Scotland.

The four-axle GMK4100L is a 100 tonne capacity crane with a 60 metre telescopic boom that can be extended to 82 m with a fly jib. The three-axle GMK3055 has a 55 tonne capacity and 43 m telescopic boom, which can be extended to 58 m with a fly jib. Work for the all terrains includes lifting construction materials, with some pieces up to 20 m long. The cranes will lift more than 6,000 tonnes of steel and 20,000 tonnes of concrete.

Derek Pierce, J & D Pierce managing director, said, “These four new Grove cranes have helped us deliver some of the biggest steel structure projects in Scotland. They work hard and are very reliable. As our business grows in this market, we are sure to expand our fleet and I am confident that Grove cranes will be part of our expansion for many years to come.”
