K-Pop idol Dayoung, star of the Korean supergroup WJSN, has become a brand ambassador for Develon and was a big hit on their stand at Intermat.

And before making assumptions about a 24-year-old singer and dancer representing a construction OEM, it’s worth pointing out that Dayoung is taking her role more seriously than most – she’s already a bona fide excavator operator.

When she wasn’t being mobbed by fans on the Develon stand, she told Construction Europe, “I got an excavator licence with HD Hyundai Infracore.

“There was a scene in a Youtube shoot, where I had to operate construction equipment, so I took a two-day course and got an excavator licence.

“There’s a Korean licence for mini excavators and I can now drive those that are 3 tonnes and under. What I drove was a 1.7 tonne mini excavator.

“It’s actually super-easy.”

I beg to differ...
