Kaeser launches electric drive compressors

The first day of Bauma saw German manufacturer Kaeser Kompressoran launch three ‘e-power’ electric drive compressors.

The M27E, M31E0 and M50E models will provide flow rates of between 2 and 5 m3/min for pressures between 7 and 14 bar. Kaeser said the new units are quieter than the diesel equivalents and cheaper to operate, because energy and maintenance costs “are generally lower”.

The three units will also be slighty less expensive to buy than their diesel equivalents.

The e-power compressors – available in both stationary and road-going versions - will be ideal for use in city centres where reduced noise is important, and for work within buildings without emissions. The three new models add to the existing, small, electrically powered unit, the M13E, which has been available for some time.

The company also used the show to introduce its first variable pressure compressor, the M125, a smaller version of the well-known M130. The M125 can be operated between 7 and 14 bar, and Kaeser said it would be ideal for breaker operations when set at 12 bar and 10.7 M3/min, or cable blowing jobs at 14 bar and 10 m3/min.

The smaller size of the M125 means that it can be towed by a ‘Sprinter’ class van.
