Leica Geosystems to launch first-person laser scanner

Leica Geosystems, part of Hexagon, has announced the upcoming release of the Leica BLK2GO Pulse at Intergeo 2023.

The BLK2GO Pulse is a new first-person laser scanner that combines LiDAR sensor technology with the original Leica BLK2GO configuration.

The company says that it provides users with a first-person scanning method, controlled with their smartphone, that delivers full-colour 3D point clouds instantly.

Leica Geosystems collaborated with Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation to build the BLK2GO Pulse. The handheld scanner is said to be the world’s first dual Time-of-Flight (ToF) scanner that combines Sony’s advanced ToF image sensors with Leica Geosystems’ GrandSLAM technology.

With its release planned in early 2024, the BLK2GO Pulse is primarily used for indoor applications such as the creation of 3D digital twins and 2D floor plans.
