Leighton Asia (Southern) and Emaar MGF have agreed to form a 50:50 joint venture, Leighton Construction India. Leighton Asia is a subsidiary of Australian contractor Leighton Holdings, while Emaar MGF is itself a joint venture between Dubai-based real estate developer Emaar Properties, and MGF Developments, one of India's largest real estate groups. Leighton Construction India has been formed to provide design and construction services to Emaar MGF throughout India, and given its US$ 2.5 billion order backlog, it will be one of the country's largest construction companies.
