Liebherr's new duty cycle

A new duty cycle crawler crane is under development by Liebherr-Werk Nenzing in Austria, KHL exclusively reveals. The new 50 tonne capacity HS 835 HD will replace the HS 833 HD, the smallest model in the existing range of six duty cycle crawler cranes from 35 to 200 tonnes capacity.

It is more than an upgrade, Liebherr said, as the machine is a new design, “with a completely new steel structure.” In addition, lifting capacity at 3 m radius has been increased from the 35 tonnes of the HS 833 HD to 50 tonnes on the new HS 835 HD. Engine power is 270 kW, up from 220 kW on the HS 833 HD. Maximum main boom on the new crane is 50 m, up by 12 m on the 38 m of the HS 833 HD. Standard on the new model is a 16 tonne winch with free fall.

As a result of these developments, overall performance of the HS 835 HD on duty cycle work will be 25 to 30% higher on average than the existing HS 833 HD, Liebherr claimed. The HS 835 HD is designed as a universal duty cycle crawler crane for all applications in material handling with dragline or grab, demolition and recycling, and for foundation works.

Liebherr plans to have the HS 835 HD in iron at April's Intermat exhibition in Paris, rigged with 17 m boom and a 2.75 cubic yard dragline bucket.
