Makro gets green credentials

Brazil-based rental giant Makro Engenharia has obtained the ISO 14001 certification, thanks to its environmental policies, including measures to prevent pollution.

BRTÜV was responsible for Makro's auditing and certification, validating work developed by the QHSE (quality, safety, environment and health) team and certifying Makro Engenharia as an environmentally friendly company. Makro has been ISO 9001 certified since 2006.

BRTÜV is a certification body accredited by INMETRO, part of the Brazilian system of conformity assessment, and is accredited by TGA/DAR, based in Germany - one of the world's leading certification bodies.

"A certification such as ISO 14001 is an important international acknowledgement for any company and it denotes the existence of an efficient management system, and much more than that, a public commitment to shareholders, collaborators, suppliers, society, governments and other stakeholders regarding its environmental responsibility," said Renata Franco, Makro Engenharia QHSE Manager.

"It is a way to display to all stakeholders that the company performs its obligations and that makes a difference in society, especially when sustainability is spoken so much about, because there are few companies that operate in an environmentally responsible way," Franco added.
