Mammoet contracted for LNG project in Texas

08 September 2016

International heavy lift and transport company Mammoet has been contracted for a liquefied natural gas (LNG) project in Freeport, Texas.

The scope of the project includes transporting a substantial number of pieces to two different sites located three miles apart. Mammoet is using two different methods of transport, by barge and over the road, depending on the various weights and sizes of the pieces, resulting in significant time savings, the company said.

To accomplish this project, Mammoet will use barges at three different docks, self-propelled modular transporters (SPMTs) and trailers with a range of axle lines. Transport of the first pieces began in April 2016 and will continue through 2017.

Pierre Mille, Mammoet USA sales director, said, “With the project taking place at two different locations and multiple teams responsible for coordination, communication will be the key to success.”
