Mammoet takes new set of 250 tonne Kobelcos

Heavy lift specialist Mammoet has added five 250 tonne capacity Kobelco CKE2500-2 crawler cranes to its fleet for oil and energy-related projects worldwide.

They are to be supplied with main booms up to 91.4 m, together with 61 m luffing boom and 61m luffing jib configurations, as well as tilt cabs. Between them, they are destined for Brazil, the Middle-East and the eastern Russian island of Sakhalin, which has one of the world's largest reserves of oil and natural gas, says Kobelco.

Mammoet ordered the first CKE2500 when it was launched in 2000. The model was upgraded to the CKE2500-2 version in 2005. The five orders from Mammoet for the latter version was due to machine's abliity to operate in extreme conditions, its good transportability and ease of maintenance in remote locations, according to Kobelco.

So far, Kobelco has delivered 800 CKE2500 and related models worldwide, making it one of the manufacturer's best-selling unit and the 250 tonne-class world market leader, Kobelco claims.
