German access equipment rental company Mateco is celebrating 40 years in business with a weekend in Berlin for all its employees.

Mateco has grown to include some 560 employees since it was founded in 1973, with 29 branches in Germany, plus others in Luxemburg and Poland.

In 2012 the company was bought from then owner Odewald & Compagnie by Belgium-based TVH Group, which also owns fellow rental company Gunco Group.

With headquarters in Stuttgart, Mateco now boasts a fleet of more than 5000 machines. Armin Rappen, Mateco CEO said part of the company’s success came down to good working relationships between the company’s employees. "This strengthens us in our daily business and results in benefits to the customer.”

Mr Rappen also said the company’s wealth of experience meant it always provided the correct solution for each project. "Proximity to the customer is our top priority," he said. “The company has continuously grown its nationwide geographic coverage and the companies in Poland and Luxembourg have also become ever larger.”

A recent project included working for customer Alpha Signs to replace 180 banners on Ibis and Etap hotels in Germany. Before work commenced Mateco visited each site to ensure the correct machine was dispatched.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary the company will treat its employees to a weekend of festivities at the popular Alexanderplatz square in the heart of Berlin.
