Nationwide Platforms picked up two trophies at the IOSH occupational safety and health awards, held at the London Hilton, UK.

Executive director for operations, Peter Douglas took the Achiever of the Year award. The judging panel found he played a central role in driving safety improvements across the access industry, including a far-reaching accident reporting mandate, and a series of health, safety and quality improvements within the UK-based rental company.

The judging panel said Mr Douglas was, “an excellent example of visible, felt leadership from a business leader”. They added that the accident-reporting initiative led by him and his colleagues was an important contribution that has the potential to form the basis of sustained improvement among powered access users.

Mr Douglas said, “Our industry is built upon striving for safety and it’s an honour to have played a part in supporting that during my many years in the sector.”

Nationwide Platforms also received the Best Health and Safety Achievement in Transport and Logistics prize for establishing a best practice blueprint to significantly reduce lost time, near miss and first aid incidents. Other finalists in the category included National Express and Stansted Airport.
