Kubota's new 4 t U48-4 and 5 t U55-4, built at the company's Hirakata plant in Japan, are part of a new generation of "tight tail" excavators.

The machines feature Kubota diesel injection (DI) engines combined with a load sensing hydraulic system to offer "smooth and efficient working performance".

Other changes from previous models include new "deluxe" cabins with full suspension seats and a wider entrance. The machines are offered as standard with one auxiliary hydraulic circuit for attachments, with an option to have two auxiliary circuits.

Kubota says the U48-4 and U55-4 have been designed for easy serviceability. The engine can be access from one side; there are large opening bonnets; and the control valves are positioned on the right hand side.
